OVERVIEW

REIMAGINING LEARNING MATERIALS FOR THE DIGITAL AGE

We’re experiencing a rapid change in the way we learn and consume information, with traditional learning media becoming fast outdated.

Regardless of your organisation’s chosen learning strategy, learning materials, in all its forms will play an ever increasing role, whether that’s in the classroom, on-the-job or on-the-go.

Technology is used in the learning process as a way of enhancing existing learning materials and teaching methods, in a bid to engage learners and deepen understanding. Augmented reality provides an opportunity to present learning material in an entirely new and exciting way, enabling the creation of tasks that have previously been inconceivable.

WHAT IS AUGMENTED REALITY?

Augmented reality (AR) is all about combining the digital world with the physical one and therefore augmenting the real world experience. It brings the real and virtual worlds closer together by adding graphics and sound to what the user is experiencing.

This creates the potential to redefine learning spaces by making the learning experience much more exciting and powerful.

HOW CAN AUGMENTED REALITY HELP REIMAGINE LEARNING AT THE WORKPLACE?

Augmented Reality (AR) programs can make images, graphics and videos to ‘come alive’ by creating layers of digital information on top of the physical world that can be viewed through devices.

Some of the possibilities of the augmented reality application in learning include:

  • Interactive manuals in and out class
  • Toolkit cards
  • Posters
  • Objects critical for the lessons
